May 19, 2016

CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- The James S. Kemper Foundation announced today that its Board of Trustees appointed Jerry Fuller as the foundation’s President and elected Joseph P. Lacher, Jr. as the foundation’s Chair, effective May 19, 2016. Fuller succeeds Ryan LaHurd, Ph.D., who retired today after serving as the foundation’s president for the past 10 years. Lacher, Kemper Corporation President and Chief Executive Officer, succeeds Donald G. Southwell as the foundation’s chair.

"Jerry brings to the Kemper Foundation a track record of developing the leadership skills of college students selected for the program. The Board and I are looking forward to working with Jerry to help the Kemper Scholars achieve their potential," said Lacher. “We would also like to thank Ryan for his dedicated leadership of the Kemper Foundation and wish him well in his retirement.”

Fuller joined the Kemper Foundation as Executive Director in 2014. In his prior role, he served as Executive Director of Associated Colleges of Illinois, where he forged relationships between business and academia and created a College to Career program. Fuller’s earlier roles included Vice President of Duff & Phelps, a global valuation and corporate financial advisor, and a series of marketing, IT and strategic planning roles at American Hospital Supply Corporation.

“The Kemper Scholars Program is one of the nation’s premier talent identification and leadership development programs,” said Fuller. “I’m honored to be entrusted with advancing the Kemper Foundation’s work to shape the next generation of business leaders.”

Fuller earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Northwestern University, his Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Chicago and attended Harvard Business School's Nonprofit Management Program.
